Papay Archive: What We Do

PAPAY HOUSES AND PEOPLE

The main strand of the Papay Archive is based around Papay houses, and the folk that have lived in them. Combining census data, with any photographs that exist to create a useful and visual archive for the island. We are always on the look out for more photographs and information, regarding the folk of the island. Please do get in touch, we can scan originals and print images ourselves.

PAPAY LIVES

Our archive also looks at the way Papay folk have lived, and worked on the island in the past. The images we have relate to aspects such as farming, fishing, and transport. With other sections dedicated to other important aspects of Papay life, shipwrecks, the coastguard and Holland Farm. Our aim is to collect as much information as we can in one place. Making this wonderful resource accessible to as many people as possible. To current islanders, those that no longer stay here, and future visitors to Papay.
